Residents, staff and volunteers boarded the bus and headed for a shopping trip to the Chatham Wal-Mart. They had a great time checking out the big box store and enjoyed lunch at McDonalds. Randy Grey entertained residents at the monthly birthday party. Celebrating their special day in September were John Kendall, Helen Drew and Anne Douglas. Birthday cake and ice-cream were served during the celebration.
The wine and cheese party was a great success with lots of finger foods served, as well as a variety of non-alcoholic wines. The variety of foods included fruit trays, vegetable trays, a variety of Evelyn’s sausage, pepperoni sticks, sliced pepperoni and a delicious variety of cheeses and dips. Special bread was served to compliment the spinach dips. Wedding Anniversary wishes are extended to John and Anita Kendall.
Jeremy Smith visited and entertained residents with his musical program. Tigger and Wendy came to join everyone during the pet therapy program. The Heartbeats program had a nice turnout and everyone exercised to the fast beat music. There was lots of laughter and giggles. Don and Bonnie Cook entertained residents with their musical program. Sybil and Remy visited during the pet therapy session. Everyone loves to see the animals. Shelley C and MaryLou DePelsmaeker gave Communion to residents of the Catholic faith on two separate days this month. Residents are busy exercising daily on the Nu-Step cross-trainers. A group of residents gathered in the activity area to have a manicure and nails were touched up with nail polish. Residents always enjoy playing a variety of games; they include darts, horse racing, the Price is Right, matching games, Wii bowling, virtual quiz, wheel of words, balloon toss and snakes and ladders. Bingo was played several times during the week with a prize choice from a variety of chocolate bars.
The Sunday apple social hour was appreciated especially now with all the delicious newly harvested apples. Blueberry treats are also a favourite. Patio time is starting to come to an end due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing. Residents are looking forward to wing and pizza night this week. The newspaper group gathered in the activity area to review all the news locally and of around the world. The movie matinee had a large group watching the featured movie. They enjoyed a variety of treats at the movie including chocolate popcorn.
During the nice weather residents are having their outdoor walks and getting a sneak peek of the new long-term care facility being built close by. Everyone is getting excited about the upcoming move in early spring. Now is the time to place your name on the waiting list if you or your loved ones are in need of long-term care. Residents in the home at the time of the move will be given first choice of the new rooms.
The black forest cookie treats were a huge hit with everyone. Residents appreciate the tuck cart filled with a variety of different items, as it makes its way around the halls and into their rooms. The book club gathered and read a few of their preferred stories. A social hour followed. Everyone always has a great time when Music Connections is scheduled. Babcock Community Care welcomes Ruth Mach and Bob Phillips as their newest residents. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Norman Courts.
